I’m a teacher, so I have a “school bag” I use everyday. Until recently, it was a Timbuk2 bag (which I loved!) with a built in laptop sleeve. When I had to give up that bag unexpectedly, and started using a bag without a laptop sleeve, I decided I should get something to protect my MacBook (with a 13 inch [diagonal] screen). I decided on this one, and I’m thrilled with the choice. It’s a great fit — Goldilocks-like, really: neither too snug nor too loose. It is very good protection for my computer, and the wavy side really does seem to offer a little extra cushioning. The material is easy to grip and not at all slippery — easy to take in and out of a bag with no inside dividers. I also really love the color scheme — much more, to be honest, than I even thought I would when I saw it online. I’m really pleased with this purchase, and would recommend it to anyone with a 13 inch MacBook or similarly sized computer.

Got this sleeve for my 2010 MBP.
Fits my laptop like a glove
the zipper has cushioning underneath thus minimizing chances of scratching the aluminum body.
Had to force it in a bit first few times, looks like it will give with use.
Stitching looks good but finishing is not perfect
Don’t even think about sticking anything else inside other than the laptop, there is no space. I have fitted a velcro on the outside and super-glued the other bit to my charger to hold it…my own functional mod.
Overall black one looked much shinier and nicer in the picture. Also the logo looks kind of faded not bright enough.

The material is comfy and gives a good grip while carrying the unit around.

If you’re a fan of simplicity, practicality and Built, then this laptop case is for you. But before you purchase this item, I should warn you that the laptop size the case can accommodate is smaller than what’s mentioned in the item’s product information.

I had to return this beautiful product because my ThinkPad X61s with an extended battery pack wouldn’t fit into the case. The reason is that this case has a structured side, which wasn’t mentioned in the item’s product information. This structured side is hard and provides additional protection for your laptop, but it also decreases the laptop size the case can actually accommodate. I wasn’t able to measure the laptop size that can fit into this case before I returned it but decrease about 3/4 to 1 inch to the measurements provided in the item’s product information to know if your laptop would fit or not.

Built NY E-LT13-OLV Small Laptop Case (Olive) Review

Great design, build, and style! And perfectly functional small bag for a netbook.

I bought a 10″ netbook (the Samsung NC10-14GB, sweet little computer) and had a hard time finding an appropriate bag for it. In a regular computer bag, it would slide all around, and just leave wasted space. Besides, with a smaller computer, I wanted to have a smaller, sleeker bag for a more portable lifestyle.

The bags “made for” the 10″ format (like this one) were just little neoprene covers with a handle. They didn’t protect well, and looked like you’re carrying a “tea party” munchkin briefcase!

I wanted to find a smaller, vertical-format bag for for my netbook–and this Built NY case exactly fit the bill.

The divider/organizer card inside the bag has a slot that I can *put the computer in,* which effectively hangs the computer in a stretchy neoprene pocket away from the bottom or sides of the bag. This is an absolutely ingenious system: simple and totally effective. It’s like having a soft computer sleeve with several inches of rigid bumper around the edges.

I can put other small items in the organizer/divider, put the whole thing in the bag, and still have room for odds and ends in the bag itself. Not a lot of room, but I wanted a slimmed-down bag–so I guess I can’t load it up with too much weight!

I’m really impressed with the design and build of the bag and divider. I’ve always looked a little askance at neoprene bags. Built NY won me over.

Here’s the one problem (for which I do not subtract from my five-star review rating): For a man, it’s just a little too girly to carry around as a shoulder bag! (I have the solid brown version, not even the polka dots!)

My sister got the Samsung, too. I think I’ll give her this bag, and hope she loves it as much as I was ready to.

Built NY 17″ Laptop Sleeve - Black Review

So I bought this for my new Sony Vaio, it is a 14 inch notebook. I bought the 13-15 inch version of this notebook sleeve and I love it!!! It fits perfect. Honestly, if my computer was 15 inches, I don’t think it would fit. The case is curvy and so the curvyness kind of creates a lack of space, if you know what I mean. There would be more room if it was straight, bu tI like the curves and mine fits great. It is also pretty thick foam, so I think it will protect well. Plus, the dots are really cute!!! I’m so excited to take it to class tomorrow!

Built NY 12″ Laptop Sleeve - Stripe Review

I have an unusually sized laptop 11X8, with a battery that makes it 9 inches wide in places so the laptop sleeves for 10″ wouldn’t fit my laptop. I was very happy to stumble across this laptop sleeve and ordered it in the hopes that even if it was on the small side for a 12″, it would still fit my laptop. Because of its design, it snuggly fits my laptop in the middle, gripping around the battery area, while leaving free space at the corners. It slides easily in or out which should be a sign to other buyers that a larger laptop may or may not fit (12″x9″ might possibly work, anything larger, no).

That said, I am in love with the colour and style of this sleeve. I’d be happy to carry it anywhere, and I’ve been showing it off to anyone who will look, I’m so pleased with it. It feels very durable, but looks light hearted.
